Boasting a monthly duty cycle of up to 30,000 pages, the HP 2840 is a multifunction color laser printer that is well suited for a medium sized office or business. The HP 2840 can serve as a copier, fax machine and scanner as well as printer, and is powered by a 264 MHz processor, making it more than capable of handling the workload of a medium sized office while still remaining compact and easy to incorporate into an office. The HP 2840 prints at a rate of 20 pages per minute when printing in black and white, and 4 pages per minute when printing in full color. For the copier function of this printer, the HP 2840 copies at a rate of 20 pages per minute for monochrome and 4 pages per minute for color. For the fist pages in a job, the HP 2840 has a first page out time of only 18 seconds for black and white prints, and 29 seconds for full color.
The HP 2840 is compatible with many major operating systems, making it versatile enough to meet the needs of almost any office. This multifunction printer is compatible with Windows NT 4.0/XP/2000, Mac OS 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.2.8 and OS X 10.3.X as well as being certified for Windows Vista. The HP 2840 ships with 96 MB of memory preinstalled. The memory on this multifunction printer can be upgraded to as much as 224 MB of memory. The maximum print resolution of the HP 2840 is 600 dpi by 600 dpi.
The HP 2840 boasts a high page capacity, making it an ideal fit for an office that needs to print large jobs without wanting to worry about refilling the paper tray. The standard page capacity of the HP 2840 is 375 sheets, divided between a 250 sheet tray and 125 sheet tray. In addition to a high page capacity, the HP 2840 supports four HP 2840 toner cartridges. This HP 2840 toners comes in yellow, cyan, magenta, and black, and provides high quality prints in addition to a high page capacity. The black HP 2840 toner cartridge is capable of printing 5000 pages, while the magenta, yellow, and cyan HP 2840 toner cartridges can print as much as 4000 pages before needing to be replaced.
For connectivity, the HP 2840 utilizes a high speed USB cable and can connect to a network through an Ethernet connection. This multifunction printer is capable of transmitting faxed pages at a rate of 3 seconds per page, and is powered by a G3 V.34 fax modem. This printer measures only 19.6 inches wide, 20.9 inches deep, and 22.6 inches high.
