Xerox Phaser 8860 Solid Ink Review

Xerox released a brand new series of printers on September 24 of this year, and included among them was the Phaser 8860. The printer is solid ink-based, the proprietary Xerox technology that replaces traditional toner cartridges with solid ink sticks. Xerox claims that solid ink printers generate one tenth of the waste of comparable color laser printers, and is more environmentally ethical.

The Phaser 8860 Solid Ink printer is not only good for the environment, it meets or exceeds most performance expectations. The Phaser 8860 can print at a speedy 30 PPM in both black and white and color, and boasts a duty cycle of 120,000 images per month. First page out time for the Phaser 8860 is around five seconds, but cold start first page out time is over 13 minutes, which could be better. The solid ink printer comes with a maximum of 1 GB of memory and a 750 MHz processor, allowing the Phaser 8860 to easily haldle large jobs with complex graphics.
