The HP Color LaserJet 5550 printer is a high powered color laser printer tailored to small businesses and workgroups who need a wide format color printer with a high paper capacity and exceptional print quality. This printer boasts a monthly duty cycle of 120,000 pages. At 22.7 inches wide by 27.7 inches deep by 25.2 inches tall, this printer provides active and creative workgroups with the quality prints they need at a speed that won’t keep you waiting.
This printer utilizes a high speed USB connection and does have networking capabilities. The HP Color LaserJet 5550 is compatible with Windows 95/98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP as well as Mac OS 8.6 and higher, and Mac OSX.
This printer utilizes HP 5550 toner Smart Print cartridges that yield approximately 13,000 pages and HP Smart Print cartridges in cyan, yellow, magenta, and black. Each of these cartridges yields roughly 12,000 pages of high quality type and images. The 5550 has an impressive print speed of 27 pages per minute of monochrome at the highest print quality and 27 pages per minute of color that allow you to print more and spend less time waiting. For both monochrome and color printing, the LaserJet 5550 has a first page out time of less than 16 seconds from the ready state so you can begin printing and working quickly.
While the standard set up for the HP 5550 includes a multipurpose tray with a capacity of 100 sheets and an additional tray capable of holding 500 sheets, this printer can be easy upgraded to accommodate as many as five paper trays. When this printer is fully upgraded with paper trays, it can hold a massive 2100 sheets. With a high paper capacity and high yield HP toner cartridges, you can be sure that you will be able to spend more time being productive and less time changing toner and refilling paper trays. The HP Color LaserJet 5550 has a monochrome and color resolution of 600 dpi by 600 dpi with HP ImageRet 3600 print quality that allows you to print with precise colors and sharp images.
The HP Color LaserJet 5550 comes standard with 160 MB of memory that can be upgraded to 544 MB of memory. This printer’s fast 533 MHZ processor means that you can send and complete even complex jobs faster with no loss of quality. Also there is an optional automatic duplex option available. A 250 sheet output tray comes standard on this printer and can handle transparencies, envelopes and labels as well as wide sheets. In standby, this printer uses 93 watts of electricity, while in active printing mode it uses 632 watts of electricity.
