The Oki C3200 printer is Oki’s entry-level laser printer. For people who want an affordable laser printer for home use, this model will work in those circumstances. Due to the excellent quality of print and a duty cycle of 50,000 pages, this printer will also work in a small to medium sized businesses. There are limited options to upgrade this printer, so it should be treated as a printer for getting those mundane and routine jobs out the door, as it works exceptionally well as a black and white printer.
One remarkable feature of this Okidata 3200 printer, is the ability to be able to print banner length media up to a length of 1200mm, as it uses a straight paper path. The LED technology also makes this considerable faster than a traditional laser printer. The toner arrangement is the same as other laser printers with four toners in total. All the colour Oki C3200 toner come in a 1,500 page yield, which helps to keep the purchase price of toners to a minimum. The black is also available in a higher 3,000 page yield. The one drawback with this machine is the larger amount of consumables for a basic printer. These include drums, fuser unit and transfer belt and so caution needs to be exercised in how this printer is actually used. If you keep to the remit of mostly black and white printing, the cost of running will be comparative to other printers in its range. The problem arises when a large amount of colour printing is created, as the other consumables will soon need replacing. It is definitely worth looking at the larger Oki models if you intend to print a larger volume of colour documents.
This printer can be attached to your network with a wired connection without too much hassle. The standard connection is via USB and the printer will talk quite happily to your computer without much interaction from you, other than a few clicks on your mouse as it asks automated set-up questions.
Paper capacity cannot be modified at a later date, as this printer is unable to accept an additional paper tray. The total paper amount is 400 sheets which are probably enough for most people using the printer. Black and white printing is of a decent quality and graphics are good enough for most business type documents and Oki have added in a ‘Photo Enhance’ feature, allowing you to tweak the printer to get the most from it when printing photographs. The 1200 x 600 dpi definitely drives the excellent text production with this model. Print speeds are 20 pages per minute for monochrome printing and 12 pages per minute for colour.
Overall, this printer has some thoughtful touches due to the quality of Oki engineering. The printer is generally smoother, quieter and better at handling paper due to the LED and straight path technology. So long as this printer is used in the right environment, it will produce work seamlessly for you.
