The Dell 3100cn is a color laser workgroup printer that is an ideal choice for a small or medium sized office that needs a fast and reliable printer that won’t take up a lot of space. With a monthly duty cycle of 45,000 pages and measuring only 16.7 inches wide, 16.5 inches deep and 21 inches wide, the Dell 3100cn is compact enough to fit into a small office, without sacrificing on quality or print speed. The Dell 3100cn weighs only 69.4 pounds, making it easy to move and place within an office.


This printer connects via a high speed USB cable that can be purchased from an office or computer supply retailer. For workgroup connectivity, the Dell 3100cn uses a high speed Ethernet connection. This printer is not equipped for wireless connectivity. The Dell 3100cn is compatible with many major operating systems, including Windows Vista, Windows 98/2000/ME, Windows NT 4.0, Mac OS, and Linux and Unix based systems.

Four Dell 3100cn toner cartridges come included with this printer, in black, yellow, cyan, and magenta. These Dell 3100cn toner cartridges provide excellent quality prints with vivid color and exceptional clarity, while still providing a high page yield. The Dell 3100cn toner cartridges included with this printer can print a yield of 4000 pages each for the magenta, yellow, cyan and black cartridges. The standard paper capacity of the Dell 3100cn is 400 sheets, split between two auto load paper trays; one paper tray is capable of handling a max of 150 sheets, while the other can support 250 sheets. For users that need a higher paper capacity, the Dell 3100cn can support a max paper capacity of 900 sheets, making it easy to print large jobs without worrying about refilling the paper trays. This printer can support a variety of print media, including transparencies and envelopes.

The Dell 3100cn is powered by a 300 MHz processor and can print with a resolution of 600 dpi by 600 dpi for color and black and white prints. The average print speed of this printer is 25 pages per minute for black and white and 5 pages per minute for color. The Dell 3100cn comes with 64 MB of memory installed, with the option to upgrade to as much as 576 MB. Duplex printing is optional on the Dell 3100cn, and this printer is Energystar qualified.
